Well…..thanks to my boss’s for giving me four days off! So when thinking about what subject to write about tonight I decided I should just go with my long weekend. Though not extremely exciting, it was still a great time to say the least. Before the weekend officially started I FINALLY got a houndstooth coat. I’ve been looking for months so I’m super excited! I think I found the perfect one.
Anyway, Wednesday I got off work early and went home to pack for my best friend John’s and I’s annual trip to the Dallas Cowboy’s game for Thanksgiving! We have been doing this for a little over 5 years now. The other tradition that usually goes with this weekend is going to the San Antonio Spurs game Friday night. Obviously since basketball isn’t starting until Christmas, that didn’t happen.
After 5 hours of driving we decided that we would go out to meet with some long time friends, Elia and Lisa Georgalis at their bar in Dallas called the Inwood Tavern. This place is super fun and has lots to do. They have a small stage, pool table, shuffle board, Golden Tee a super sweet patio with another bar outside AND free popcorn….come on!
Thanksgiving day was spent at the stadium freezing. Nah it wasn’t that bad but it was pretty chilly. The game was super fun though. It started off a little slow but picked up after the amazing half time show featuring Enrigue Iglesias and Pitbull. : / yeah…that’s what I said.
After the game we got right back on the road and headed home…..Friday was spent cleaning my apartment, yes very fun. The rest of my weekend was spent catching my friend up on the current season of Dexter and just vegging out. Oh but I did do a little shopping today. I have to say it was pretty easy for me not to spend money. No I haven’t gone crazy I’m just not really liking what’s out there right now. Like I’ve said before; just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean to have to wear it. I’m just not into the Native American look I guess or the gross fur vests and such. EWE. You girls look like Ewoks! Please stop! Sorry went a little batty there. Well, I did manage to pick up a few fun things included some cute black and white stripped small heels on sale at Nordstrom rack marked down to $8 from $60…yes $8. I had to get them duh.
So it’s time to go as the new episode of Dexter will be on soon. Have a great week everyone and check out my photo gallery from the weekend. I’ve included some pics form the game as well as some things I bought today. Click on one photo and the gallery will come up. Enjoy and thanks for reading!
This weeks featured artist is the funky ska band FISHBONE! So last night my friend T-Bone Willy and I, who is in a ska band himself called Starpool, went to the Alamo Theatre in downtown Austin, TX to catch the documentary Everyday Sunshine: The story of Fishbone. It’s was very interesting and entertaining. You don’t have to be “into” the band to enjoy this film. I didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. They have influenced so many great bands they are still going strong today such as No Doubt. I LOVE ska music and I have seen Fishbone a few times in the past but I myself am only familiar with a couple of songs. Probably the same one’s everyone else knows. They still have a strong following but never quite “made it” and partly due to the fact that they didn’t fit into a particular mainstream category. These guys have so much talent and are still struggling to make it happen. They have gone through many changes and hardships having 13 different band member line-ups with Angelo Moore and John Norwood Fisher being the only remaining original members. The band originated all the way back in junior high school with Norwood as the founding member. Fishbone definitely has the best stage presence of any band that I have ever seen. They still tour and are currently on tour at the moment so if you get a chance check them out! You won’t be disappointed!
Every Tuesday I will feature a music artist that I like. This weeks and my very first featured artist in the Swedish band The Sounds. I happened to be flipping through my local free newsprint The Austin chronicle, and read they are playing at La Zona Rosa here in Austin this Friday! Glad I caught it in time and scored 2 tickets to the show! Woo-hoo girls night out! I came across The Sounds when they opened for No Doubt a few years back and it was love at first sight! Their sound is like 80’s pop, punk and new nave all rolled in to one. This combination equals AMAZING. The singer Maja Ivarsson is a super rad chick channeling a young Debbie Harry. I’ll let you know how the show was. Happy listening!

So I don’t consider myself a “fashionista” but I do love fashion and I do my best. I have always had my own personal style and don’t always feel the need to follow certain trends. Everything does not look good on everyone people including myself.
Remember when leggings were huge? They’re still ok but let’s keep that bootie covered up! Anyway back to what I was saying….I always dress for my mood and I think music has a big influence on my personal style. I like many types of music and looks and I draw from all of them. Don’t focus your time on what’s trendy. Dress for you and create your own look. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to look cute!!!

So I frequent this site quite often http://www.hautelook.com. They have everything from shoes, make-up, clothing, furniture, trips, you name it! It’s going to be the death of me! Most recently I picked up these fab blue suede shoes from BEBE. They are super tall and super cute! They are called the “Tristan” pump.
The heel measures at 5.25 with a 2.5 inch platform. They have a great fit and are super comfy. Wear them with you favorite skinny jeans and a basic top to make the shoe pop! Oooooh that rhymes….They are no longer available on hautelook but I found them on many different sites so happy searching!
Thanks for clicking! I’m creating a fun blog to talk about fashion, movies, make-up, music, gossip, product reviews, where to buy, etc. I love to give my opinions and would love to hear yours! More to come…..
